We drove into Jerusalem (which has a population of around one million) and it was a mixture of new and ancient. We drove by the Old City, whose gates and walls I have a great interest in, since I’ve closely studied Nehemiah 3 in the Old Testament. I noticed that all of the buildings are the same colour. The lovely lady who was sitting next to me – her name is Ros – explained that only Jerusalem stone can be used for building. Ros is from Boston, and she finds it impossible to stay away from her Israel. Her parents were "survivors" (meaning of the Holocaust), and she loves to learn about the history of this rich city from both the Christian and Jewish perspectives. I feel privileged to have met her.
Our hotel is lovely! We are taking a couple of days rest before our tour starts on Monday. Tomorrow we will visit the Biblical Zoo. I'm not sure what that means, but I’m sure it will be beautiful.
